1. Internet access was good inside the school building but the WiFi signal was very weak, or no signal at all, in the conference area. In this situation, a WiFi Range Extender would have been very useful. Perhaps the technicians who were operating the audio/video equipment should include WiFi access to the conference area.
2. Keeping presenters on schedule….
Presenters and other speakers (especially οι δήμαρχοι) should keep to the conference schedule.
Include 5 to 10 minutes in the schedule for questions, between each presenter or speaker.
Perhaps have a timekeeper sitting with the session chairperson to notify each speaker when they have a few minutes remaining to complete their presentation. The chairperson was the timekeeper during the conference, in most cases.
3. Perhaps collect and place all of the presentations on the web site a week before the conference. This would help the attendees follow the presentations more easily, especially when graphs and data are presented (but of course, the attendees would need WiFi access). It’s not always easy to see the presented graphs or data from a chair out in the conference area (especially if the sun is shining on the display screen).
Alternatively, the presentations could be printed on paper and distributed to all of the attendees before the start of the conference.
Pserimos was beautiful! Thank you for the experience and the opportunity to attend the first Smart Islands conference. It was an honor!
